Challenge: Creating Complex Fluidic Handling Manifolds

The goal of this product is the ability for programmable and highly controlled fluid delivery from multiple inlets to multiple output ports for testing. Several hurtles faced the ALine Team when designing the manifold used in the Biorep Perfusion system v5. These design hurtles included but were not limited to minimizing dead volume and separating the electromechanical controls from the fluids.

Solution: 32 Fluid Stream Manifold!

What the ALine Team developed was a manifold with on-board pneumatic valves, actuated by external electro-mechanical controls.  All 32 fluid streams are managed and can be combined by manipulating several sets of on board pneumatically controlled valves. These valves can then deliver the fluid to any one of the multiple output ports.

Result: Biorep Diabetes Perfusion System v5

A commercialized product ready for research the Biorep Perfusion System v5 performs in-vitro testing of islets of Langerhans. This machine and the manifolds, designed and developed by Aline, is a new milestone for Diabetes Research.
