Our prototyping and manufacturing capability supported the development of a fluidic card for cell culture in space. The successful launch in December 2006 proved that cells could be grown and monitored autonomously in a satellite-based cell culture system.

The 12 well fluidic card contained a single inlet to feed all ten sample chambers. Each chamber had a membrane at the inlet and outlet to prevent sample loss and cross contamination. This arrangement also allowed even filling across all ten chambers.

 
 

Our expertise in biocompatible materials, our ability to prototype and modify designs to meet changing requirements allowed NASA to achieve flawless device performance in support of its mission. To learn more about this program please see our publication:
